Updated on 10 July 2007

Social networking site MySpace now has more than 10 million regular users in the UK, it has said.

A page dedicated to Project (Red), the global fund to fight Aids launched by Bono, is the most popular profile with UK users.

Damon Albarn's virtual band Gorillaz is the second most popular.

The localised UK version of MySpace launched in April 2006. People visiting the site in the UK are automatically diverted to the UK-specific version of it.

Jamie Kantrowitz, Senior Vice President Marketing and Content, MySpace Europe, said: "More than 10 million people in the UK are using MySpace to live their lives online."

London has the highest number of UK MySpace profiles at 1.8 million, followed by Manchester at more than 721,000 and Birmingham at more than 589,000.

MySpace is owned by the US firm Fox Interactive Media Inc.
