Police are using popular internet site MySpace to appeal for information about a missing man.
Adam Alexander, from Errol in Perthshire, has not been seen since he failed to show up for an appointment at his home in November 1999.
Police said his disappearance was out of character and remains a mystery. Detectives re-investigating the case are now hoping for fresh leads after setting up a website on the social networking site.
It is thought to be the first time in Scotland a police force have used such a site for a missing person's inquiry.
The internet page includes photographs and a profile of Mr Alexander, details of his disappearance and a link to Tayside Police.
Anyone with information can contact the force by phone or email them via the site.
On Tuesday - the date of Mr Alexander's 46th birthday - police issued a renewed appeal for information.
Detective Chief Inspector Roddy Ross said: "We were aware of another case in which a missing person had a website created for him by some of his friends. It appeared to generate a lot of information and we thought it might be worthwhile to do this with Mr Alexander.
"We want to look at this inquiry with fresh eyes and one of the things we can do is use the internet to publicise his disappearance and ask for assistance."
The Tayside Police internet site can be viewed at www.myspace.com/findadamalexander.
