Libel fear for doctors and scientists

Campaigners say doctors and science writers can face crippling legal action if they speak publicly about adverse findings in their research.

Mention the word "libel" and you might think of celebrities suing tabloid newspapers over scandalous allegations.
This week the pressure group Sense About Science added its voice to a campaign to reform England's libel system, which it is claimed is so attractive to claimants that multi-millionaires from around the world are choosing to sue in British courts.
