Government faces criticism over children's rights
Updated on 19 November 2009
On the 20th anniversary of the UN's Convention on Childrens' Rights, chidren's charities and NGOs criticise the government's record on protecting the under 18s.

According to the United Nation's children's organisation, UNICEF, there are 4m children in poverty.
Less than 25 per cent of children with mental health problems have access to treatment.
The UK has more than 2,500 children in jail which is more than most western nations.
And of the 24 richest countries, we have the second highest infant mortality rate.
In response to criticism, in 2007 the government set up the new integrated department for children schools and families, and the first secretary for children - but some say we need to do more.
To get an idea of what the UN sees as a rights-focused approach to childhood, More 4 News went to a UNICEF Rights Respecting school, Porchester Community School, near portsmouth, to see whether the 'kids are All Right'.
