Have you had your tonsils out?
The operation used to be widespread among children, and it is still one of the NHS's most common procedures.
Yet the chief medical officer has cited tonsillectomies as an example of the kind of outdated intervention that is often performed unnecessarily.
So why hasn't the op been given the chop?
