From the Earth Summit to Copenhagen

By Julian Rush

Updated on 30 November 2009

Channel 4 News science correspondent Julian Rush follows the long road from the Brazil Earth Summit in 1992 to this December's climate change summit in Copenhagen.

Brazil

It is people like the 40,000 residents of the Colombo favela in Sao Paolo who are already suffering most from climate change.

But a leaked draft proposal for next week's summit fails to mention any binding emission cuts for rich nations by 2020.

Nor does it offer developing countries the money they say is needed to make a global deal work.

Julian Rush follows the road to Copenhagen since the process began in Brazil at the Earth Summit 17 years ago.
