A Polish woman living in London is told to pay £16,000 pounds in compensation and costs after illegally sharing a computer game over the internet.

In the first case of its kind, the company TopWare Interactive says it is protecting its copyright.

The move comes after the music industry has spent years battling illegal uploading.

But some in the games business believes legal action is the wrong way to deal with the problem.

Games makers have contacted people they believe have been file sharing warning them of legal action unless they pay a £355 fine. Channel 4 News wants to hear from you if you've received one of these letters.
