Eye to eye over climate change?

A reluctant America in Bali tries to rip the carbon emission targets out of the talks designed to come up with 'Son of Kyoto. We ask Hilary Benn - will you let them?

The time to act is now - the UN's secretary general Ban Ki Moon has declared - although there's not much sign of agreement on a new global climate treaty - at international talks in Bali.

Some of the 190 countries represented are pushing for emission targets to be set. But the US, as ever, is dragging its heels over the specifics - while insisting it is leading the way. The conference is due to end on Friday, so there's not much time left for a deal.

Our Science Correspondent Julian Rush is here to explain.
