Life-size cardboard nurses are the latest tool in the battle against infection in hospitals, according to one NHS Trust.
United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust is officially launching the use of the new "nurses".
The cardboard cut-outs will be placed at the entrances of hospital wards in Lincolnshire.
They will even have voiceboxes and contain a recorded message telling people to clean their hands when they arrive, and before they leave hospital wards.
The voice will be activated as people walk past, making sure every visitor gets the message.
A Trust spokeswoman said the nurses were part of a drive to improve cleanliness and tackle infections at hospitals across the county.
The cardboard cut-outs will be placed at ward entrances at Lincoln County Hospital, Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, Grantham and District Hospital and Louth County Hospital over the next few weeks.
They have been supplied to the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust by NHS East Midlands.
They will be officially launched at Johnson Ward in Lincoln County Hospital.
