Bada Bing! Microsoft in search of Google

Microsoft's latest attempt to push Google off its search perch.

Google is a household name and, to the company's delight, has also become a verb.

Just as people say they've "Googled" information on the web, Microsoft is hoping its new search engine will prove even more popular.

It is called Bing - a name that has been carefully chosen - and was launched today.

It aims to give you all of the information you are seeking on one page. And when you are looking for video, all you need to do is hover your mouse over it, rather than click.

Tonight Microsoft begins a $100m advertising campaign on American television.
