A US security firm claimed this week that a web browser flaw has left Apple's new mobile phone and desktop computers vulnerable to attack.

Balitmore-based Independent Security Evaluators, which specialises in evaluating client vulnerability by hacking into their systems, claimed that three employees had used a Wi-Fi link to take control of an iPhone.

In another test, the security experts took control of the phone by tricking users into going to a website.

As a result of both breaches, a hacker can take control of Apple's Safari Web browser, the security firm said.

An Apple spokesman said: "We're looking into the report submitted by [Integrated Security Evaluators] and we always welcome feedback on how to improve our security"
