50 children in bubble set record

A "bubbleologist" has squeezed 50 schoolchildren inside a soap bubble, breaking the world record in the process.

Sam Heath, aka Samsam Bubbleman, used a specially-designed 12m (39ft) bubble wand to create a soap bubble around the children at London's Science Museum.

The schoolchildren, all of whom had to be over 5ft tall for the record to count, stood on a large platform surrounded by a moat of soapy water.

Mr Heath used the wand - a large hoop - to make a bubble enclosing the whole group, succeeding at the fourth attempt.

The bid, declared official by a Guinness World Record adjudicator, formed part of a 24-hour "party" celebrating the launch of a new gallery at the museum.

The free Launchpad gallery features more than 50 new hands-on exhibits showcasing physics phenomena.
