Updated on 22 November 2008

By Nick Paton Walsh

A British militant linked to an alleged plot to blow up transatlantic airliners is reported to have been killed in Pakistan. Nick Paton Walsh reports.

Anonymous Pakistani intelligence sources said Rashid Rauf, who was born in Birmingham, was one of five people who died in the attack in the north-west of the country.

The alleged bomb plot was said to have targeted planes flying from Heathrow to north America, in which home-made liquid bombs would be used to murder passengers.
