In tonight's show...

It looks like the government is changing its mind on trying to penalise old cars that emit high quantities of CO2. It turns out that it's questionable whether the tax works anyway, and our political editor Gary Gibbon has sniffed a severe smell of burning rubber in the corridors of Whitehall, which suggests something of a motorway U-turn.

Israeli bulldozer attack

From Israel tonight, a nasty attack on a civilian bus inside Israel by an Israeli Arab not from the occupied territories. The man went on a deadly rampage in Jaffa city centre, driving a bulldozer into the bus and other traffic. Three people were killed and many others badly injured. The incident was captured on film, including the eventual moment in which a policeman clings onto the cab, struggles with the driver, and then shoots him dead.

High street gloom

Faisal Islam, our economics correspondent, is looking at figures which show that the economic contagion has spread from the financial sector to other aspects of the high street, not least Marks & Spencer.

Miliband on Europe

Foreign Secretary David Miliband is making a speech on Europe tonight. There are things in it for Eurosceptics about cutting farm subsidies and keeping power at a local level. but Miliband also endorses French president Sarkozy's call for a common defence policy. We'll be talking to Miliband live at seven.

US healthcare victim

The country with the highest expenditure on health anywhere in the world tonight has visual evidence of what happens to those who are not insured. There are grizzly CCTV pictures of a patient dying due to a lack of access to healthcare. Alex Thomson is on the case.
