Real IRA admits NI attack

By Faisal Islam

Updated on 08 March 2009

The Antrim brigade of the dissident republican Real IRA says it was behind the attack in which two British Army soldiers were shot dead. Faisal Islam reports.

The group behind the Omagh bombing in 1998 is just one of the organisations which have rejected Sinn Fein's decision to abandon the gun and join the political process.

There are fierce rivalries between the various factions, and although their numbers are tiny, security sources say this marks a dangerous surge in activity.
