Zimbabwe's elections to go ahead
Updated on 24 June 2008
Zimbabwe's ruling Zanu-PF party says it will press ahead with Friday's presidential election despite last night's UN Security Council resolution.
The Security Council said the campaign of violence by Robert Mugabe's party and the restrictions on the political opposition have "made it impossible for a free and fair election to take place".
But Zimbabwe's ambassador to the UN said the Security Council could not "micro-manage" his country's elections.
