Zimbabwe opposition may hold talks with Mugabe

Updated on 20 July 2008

By Krishnan Guru-Murthy

Zimbabwe's main opposition is preparing to hold talks with President Robert Mugabe's party over the country's political crisis, according to Kenya's prime minister.

Raila Odinga said a deal setting out the framwork for negotiations could be signed this week.

The Movement for Democratic Change has refused to recognise Mr Mugabe's election in last month's vote, claiming voters were intimidated by violence.
