What happened inside the Taj?

Updated on 29 November 2008

The siege is over and Indian troops are searching through the ruins, as 195 people are confirmed dead in Mumbai's terrorist attacks.

After a three-day battle for control of the Taj Mahal Palace hotel, Indian investigators name the sole surviving gunman of the multiple terrorist attacks as a 21-year-old Pakistani national, linking him to a known Islamist militant group.

Indian commandos finally ended the siege of Mumbai's landmark Taj Mahal hotel by killing the last of the militants still holding out inside.

At least 195 people died in a series of attacks that were launched across the city on Wednesday. Hundreds more were held hostage.

Today the surviving hostages have been giving more information about the harrowing conditions they were forced to endure.
