What happened at Jabaliya?

The Israeli attack on the UN school in Jabaliya, which killed 30 people, has provoked strong reaction.
It is the deadliest single incident since Israel launched its assault on Gaza: dozens of civilians killed at a UN school where they were sheltering as Israeli missiles exploded outside.
Israel insisted it was trying to avoid civilian casualties, accusing Hamas of firing rockets from the building. Hamas, however, denied to this programme that their fighters were ever in the building.
