Violence spreads after China riot deaths

Police in the western Chinese city of Urumqi use teargas on demonstrators in the aftermath of ethnic riots in which more than 150 people died.

Police used teargas to disperse Han Chinese as they marched through the city of Urumqi, carrying machetes and clubs.
Earlier, Uighur women demonstrated against the arrests of more than 1,400 people after Sunday's violent clashes in Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang province.
Violence is reported to have spread to other cities in the region, including Kashgar and Karamay.
