US may cut Colombia budget

Dubbed "Plan Colombia", in the past decade the United States has poured $6billion into the south American country in an attempt to combat drug trafficking.

The scheme was set up by President Clinton and continued by George Bush.

But now as Barack Obama prepares to take up office it could be under threat, limted achievements and concerns with the human rights records of the military units America funds tempting the incoming adminstration to pull the plug.

Channel 4 News has filmed with Colombian cocaine producers and elite "Junglas" police who try to stop them.
