US jury convicts terror suspect

An American jury has convicted the terror suspect Jose Padilla of conspiracy to murder maim and kidnap.

Padilla, who has been held by the US mililtary for three and a half years, faces life in prison for providing material support for Islamist terrorist groups and conspiring to murder, kidnap and maim people in Afghanistan, Chechnya, Bosnia and other countries from 1993 to 2001.

The Bush administration labelled him an enemy combatant and accused him of plotting to set off a radioactive bomb.
