US could bridge gap with Islam

Barack Obama, on his first official visit to a predominantly Muslim country, reiterates his support for a new, independent Palestinian state.

Obama told the Turkish parliament that the United States is not at war with Islam and could help bridge the divide between the Muslim world and the west.

The American president said that the United States had been enriched by American Muslims and referred to his own upbringing in a Muslim country.
