Tsvangirai: Zimbabwe in a war situation

In an exclusive interview for this programme Zimbabwe's opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai tells us his country is now in a 'war situation'. Jonathan Miller reports

Zimbabwe is now in a war situation - the country's opposition leader has warned - telling this programme he's got no intention of taking part in a runoff against Robert Mugabe.

A month after the disputed elections Morgan Tsvangirai said democracy in Africa was now on trial.

Officials have finally begun verifying the election results -the first step in releasing the long delayed final count.

The opposition says it's won the vote, but today Zimbabwean government sources claimed the majority wouldn't be enough to avoid a runoff.

Our foreign affairs correspondent Jonathan Miller reports.
