It's the ultimate power lunch: America's five living presidents gather to eat at the White House.

President George W Bush, together with president-elect Barack Obama and former presidents Bush, Clinton and Carter, have got together to break bread at the White House - one dinner party where the conversation's certain not to flag.

There hasn't been a similar gathering since 1981, and it's normally reserved for far more sombre occasions.

Apparently it was all Barack Obama's idea. But will five men with such different political ideals choke over their appetisers or bond over the dessert?
