The US counts down to Obama

In just over four hours time, in front of the Capitol building, Barack Obama will become the first black president of the United States.

Obama will swear the oath of office on the bible first used by Abraham Lincoln and become the 44th man to hold the office.

Before dawn people began streaming into Washington DC in their thousands for a chance to take part in a moment of history, the city already a gridlock of closed roads and barricades.
