The prosecutor at the trial of Saddam Hussein's former foreign minister calls for him to be handed a tough penalty. Jonathan Rugman reports.

Tariq Aziz was the public face of Saddam Hussein's regime. Now he is on trial, accused of involvement with the deaths of dozens of traders who were executed for profiteering in 1992. If he is convicted, he could face the death penalty, or life behind bars.

In the absence of his defence team. he claimed the allegations were "a plot of personal revenge" by those intent on destroying him.
