Could closing the complex of tunnels used to smuggle arms to Hamas fighters in Gaza help bring about a ceasefire?

Closing the tunnels between Gaza and Egypt could lead to an immediate ceasefire, Tony Blair said today, warning that Israel had prepared for a protracted campaign.

The network of underground passages around Gaza have long been used not just to smuggle goods, but an entire arsenal of weapons to Hamas fighters.

Israel says it won't call off its offensive until it's safe from Hamas rocket attacks , so is shutting down the tunnels the only way?
