Updated on 24 June 2009
A quarter of a century after White House tapes brought about Richard Nixon's downfall, a new batch of tapes reveal the former president's views on such issues as abortion and Vietnam PoWs.

In 1973 recorded conversations about Watergate led to Nixon's impeachment.
The latest tapes released from the archives reveal the president's reaction to the legalisation of abortion.
They cover topics ranging from a conversation with actor Bob Hope about prisoners of war coming home from Vietnam, to arranging a TV interview for Henry Kissinger.
