Updated on 05 February 2008

By Jon Snow, Sarah Smith

Channel 4 News reports from the US as millions of people from mighty California to tiny American Samoa make their choice on the parties' candidates for the next President of the United States on Super Tuesday.

The polls are still incredibly close, Democratic rivals Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are neck and neck, with a final winner unlikely to emerge just yet.

But on the Republican side, John McCain, with solid leads in some of the biggest battleground states, is aiming to see off his nearest challenger Mitt Romney once and for all.
