Snowmail: third day of Gaza raids

By Kylie Morris

Updated on 29 December 2008

Again, it's the terrible state of affairs in Gaza that leads tonight's bulletin.

Our international editor, Lindsey Hilsum, is in Jerusalem - access to Gaza itself is now closed.

But our teams on the ground inside the Palestinian territory have managed to feed material back to her, including testimony from the parents of the five sisters killed when a bomb hit their neighbourhood mosque.

The UN and ICRC are warning of an alarming shortage of resources to deal with casualties. The head of Shifa hospital, the main hospital in Gaza City itself, says he's never seen anything like the current chaos.

Meanwhile, in Israel today, a second person was killed and several more injured by rockets fired from inside Gaza.

We'll hear live from Jerusalem and from inside Gaza at seven, as well as from the foreign secretary, David Miliband. He's called for an immediate halt to hostilities but danced around defining Israel's bombing campaign as disproportionate.

Tomorrow night we're expecting Israel's defence minister, Ehud Barak, on the programme.

Beyond the Middle East Nick Martin is standing outside Southport police station where Liverpool's Steven Gerrard remains inside after a fracas in a nightclub.

See you tonight at seven.
