French President Nicolas Sarkozy angrily ended a TV interview aimed at introducing him to American audiences.
On CBS's 60 Minutes aired last Sunday, the French president had a disagreement with the journalist interviewing him, called his press secretary an idiot, said he was too busy to make time for a "stupid" interview and ended the conversation when asked about his marriage to Cecilia.
The Sarkozys' divorce was confirmed two weeks later.
"If I had something to say about Cecilia, I would not do so here," he said before halting further questions.
In two interviews, he said he liked both the U.S. work philosophy and its pop music.
Asked about his father's initial fears that anyone with a Hungarian surname like Sarkozy could not get ahead in France, he said he admired the US's opportunities for all types of people.
"You can be called Schwarzenegger and be governor of California," he said.
