San fans the flame of dissent

By Sarah Smith

Updated on 09 April 2008

After the fiascos of the London and Paris legs, the route will no longer be going over the Golden Gate Bridge or through the city's Chinatown district.

Instead it will be confined to wide streets where officials hope it will be easier to protect the flame.

But the protests have already started.
