Radovan Karadzic makes his first appearance in court at The Hague

The former Serbian leader has made his first appearance at the international war crimes tribunal at The Hague.
His beard shaved off, the extravagant hair cut short, the disguise that helped Radovan Karadzic evade justice for more than a decade was gone.
He listened impassively as 11 summary charges, including genocide and crimes against humanity, were read out, but later challenged the court's legitimacy and claimed to have been kidnapped and taken before it.
