Sarah Smith reports on the outstanding questions facing John McCain over his choice of running mate.

It is five days since John McCain announced his vice-presidential candidate for the Republican ticket, and yet the debate over Sarah Palin, the moose-hunting mother-of-five and governor of Alaska, still dominates political debate in the US.

It was revealed today that she was only properly vetted face-to-face by the McCain team the day before she was offered the role.
