Putin visits Bush summer home

Vladimir Putin becomes the first foreign leader to visit President Bush's summer holiday home in Kennebunkport, Maine.

Much has been made of George W Bush's warm relationship with Tony Blair.

But Vladimir Putin has become the first foreign leader to be invited into President Bush's "inner sanctum".

The informal visit to Kennebunkport began with a ride in a speedboat driven by George Bush Senior.

But the omens for agreement on a range of issues , including American plans for a missile defence system in Europe, are not good.
