Plot thickens in Afghan 'thriller'

The tale of a British soldier, a campaigner and 'secrets given away' in Afghanistan.

She is the campaigner accused of receiving prohibited data who says her life has been put at risk by a vicious slur.

He is the British soldier in charge of monitoring civilian casualties now arrested under the Official Secrets Act.

Unnamed sources suggested Rachel Reid and Colonel Owen McNally had become close in the war zone of Afghanistan - yet this is not the plot of a far-fetched thriller.

Today Ms Reid denied she was passed any secrets. Instead, she said her name had been dragged through the mud.
