Palin: God, guns and teenage pregnancy

By Jon Snow

Updated on 02 September 2008

Jon Snow travels to Alaska to find the real story behind Sarah Palin, the Republicans' presidential running mate.

In St Paul Minnesota at the Republican convention, John McCain's selection of Alaska governor, Sarah Palin, has thrown an unpinned grenade into the US presidential campaign.

Tonight Mr McCain said his vetting process had been "completely thorough" but it is emerging that his team barely did more than Google her during the vetting process.

Indeed, his 10 strong team of investigators only arrived in her home town of Wasilla on Sunday.

But it is Palin's revelation of the five month pregnancy of her 17-year-old daughter that has lit the most heated debate.
