Pakistan's interior minister says an eleventh hour change of venue saved the country's entire leadership.

He claimed President Zardari and the prime minister had both been due to attend a dinner at the Marriott hotel and cancelled just hours before a deadly bomb attack.

The Fedayeen Islam group has claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing, which left 53 people dead and hundreds injured.

But how did an unknown militant group manage to set off explosives outside a hotel in the heart of such a heavily guarded city?
