Obama seeks a new beginning

In a speech in Cairo, President Barack Obama says he seeks a "new beginning between the US and Muslims based upon mutual interest and mutual respect".
A new beginning to mark the end of years of distrust.
That was Barack Obama's call to the Muslim world today in a major speech in Cairo, designed to open a new chapter in relations between America and the Islamic world.
With uncharacteristic frankness, the President admitted America had made mistakes in the past - not least in Iraq.
And while he acknowledged the ties between Israel and the United States were "unbreakable", he sternly rebuked the Israelis, calling the suffering of the Palestinians "intolerable" and demanding they stop the construction of settlements in the occupied territories.
