Obama now leads Democrat race

It is an overwhelming victory that's put Barack Obama ahead of Hillary Clinton in the race for the White House.

In the latest set of primary contests, Democrats in Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC emphatically backed Obama, giving him a straight run of wins in the last eight states to vote.

It's a devastating blow to Hillary Clinton's team, who are desperate to halt the growing momentum behind Senator Obama's campaign.
