Barack Obama says the Democratic nomination for president is within reach, as he wins in Oregon but loses Kentucky. The race issue still proving a huge hurdle to vault. Sue Turton reports.

It's official... almost. Barack Obama has won a majority of pledged delegates in the Democratic primary process.

But the presumed Democratic nominee for the US presidency stopped short of declaring out-and-out victory.

And he was full of praise for his rival Hillary Clinton, who did win one of yesterday's two state contests, and who's still vowing to fight on.
