New upsurge in Kenya violence

Attacks claim at least 13 lives in apparent reprisal for a spate of killings in Kenya over the weekend.
A weekend of killings was apparently the trigger for more blood-letting in Kenya today, as reprisal attacks claimed the lives of at least 13 people.
The new upsurge, which comes after the two presidential rivals met for the first time last week, took the official death toll to 800 in less than a month since the disputed polls.
As people have been displaced by violence, it
now seems to have migrated with them from towns further up the Rift Valley, such as Eldoret, to the previously unaffected cities of Nakuru and Naivasha.
There, gangs from rival communities have been fighting with machetes, clubs, and bows and arrows - just 60 miles from the capital, Nairobi.
