Nepal becomes a republic

More 4 reports as today Nepal becomes the world's newest republic.

Thousands of Maoists, now the country's biggest political party, celebrated in the streets as their leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai said:

"We believe that the first meeting of the constituent assembly will introduce the federal system legally and Nepal will be a federal republic".

The King has 15 days to leave his palace, which will be turned into a museum.
