Lord Ashcroft donates Victoria Cross collection to Imperial War Museum

Updated on 08 July 2008

By Nicholas Glass

The owner of the world's largest collection, Tory peer Lord Ashcroft, donates his 152 Victoria Crosses to the Imperial War Museum.

The Victoria Cross is the hardest military or civilian honour to come by. It has only been awarded 13 times since the end of the second world war, for the "most conspicuous bravery, daring acts of valour or self-sacrifice in the presence of the enemy."
