It's Obama versus the Daily Show

By Channel 4 News

Updated on 23 August 2007

Presidential candidate Barack Obama makes an appearance on the satirical US programme The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

The Illinois senator took a grilling from comedian Jon Stewart who joked about recent criticism over his lack of experience.

But Mr Obama criticised the Republican field for "outbidding each other" and criticised their stance on Guantanamo Bay.

Earlier, Mr Obama attended a Brooklyn rally, where he said that America was looking for "something new."

He added: "They want us to turn the page and write a new chapter in American history, that is what people are looking for."

If elected, he would become the first ever non-white US president.
