Iraq: US facing teen insurgents

Updated on 18 March 2008

By Nick Paton Walsh

It's the fifth anniversary of the Iraq invasion but the latest struggle is against young insurgents - dubbed the last stand against al-Qaida.

The Americans are keen to talk up the security improvements in Iraq but they are now facing a teenage enemy - young men with little connection to Saddam Hussein's regime, who have risen up against the occupation.

As part of Iraq week a Channel 4 News team is embedded with a unit of the third armoured cavalry regiment in a small area of western Mosul, a city in northern Iraq.

Here, in the new frontline against the insurgency, four Iraqi soldiers have been killed since Friday morning.
