Tens of thousands of opposition supporters in Iran stage protests as former President Rafsanjani uses Friday prayers to publicly challenge the country's election result.

Police fired teargas and used batons against supporters of opposition leader Mir Hussein Mousavi.

Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, who backed Mousavi's election campaign, said many Iranians had doubts about the election.
