Who is Ahmed Rashid?
Ahmed Rashid is a Pakistani journalist based in Lahore. He is the author of four books, including 'Taliban: Militant Islam, Oil, and Fundamentalism in Central Asia' and 'Jihad: The Rise of Militant Islam in Central Asia'. 'Taliban' topped the New York Times bestsellers list.
He has reported on Pakistan, Afghanistan and Central Asia for publications including the 'Daily Telegraph', 'Washington Post', the 'Far East Economic Review', the 'Wall Street Journal'.
In 2001 he was given an award by the Human Rights Society of Pakistan for courage in journalism.
