Hezbollah has begun to pull its fighters off the streets of Beirut after the Lebanese army said it would overturn two government measures which triggered the group's seizure of part of the capital.

The army has also offered reassurance over its threatened communications network.

Lebanon's American-backed Prime Minister had earlier gone on television accusing Hezbollah of launching a coup.

He pledged that Lebanon would not fall to the Syrian and Iranian-backed group.

But today's moves suggest he may have little say in the matter.
